Well,
its 6:00 PM and we are settled in our room in South San Francisco. We have a
wonderful view of the marina. The windows are open and I can hear the
clinking of the wropes going up the mast poles. The breeze is blowing in and
it’s just very relaxing. The lady at the front desk calls it a breeze,
but when you are out in it, we think it’s more like a gale.
Nevertheless, it is a beautiful, clear day on the coast. We
left for San Rafael around 11:00 this morning to drop Liza off at Guide Dogs
for the Blind where she will stay while we are gone. She had a spring
in her step and I think she really thinks of it as her home away from
home. It’s hard to get used to not having her with us. Courtney
and I both find ourselves thinking about what she will be needing next and I
keep thinking I am hearing her collar jingling. When
we left Guide Dogs, we headed for one of our favorite spots, Sam’s in
Tiburon, for lunch. My Trekker GPS found it with no problem and we had
a relaxing lunch overlooking the water. We spent 1 night in Tiburon on
our honeymoon 7 years ago and really enjoyed it. We’ve been there a couple
of times since, including 2 years ago when we traveled to Korea for the World
Championships. We made our customary stop in the candy shop for
chocolates and then headed down the coast to our hotel. We had one minor
detour because I entered San Francisco as the town in the GPS and it should
have been South San Francisco. But Trekker got us easily around the one
way streets and back on track. Our
taxi will be arriving at 3:45 tomorrow morning, so we should be at the
airport in plenty of time for the first leg of our flight at 6:00. We
fly to Chicago, have a 3 hour layover there, then fly to Frankfort and arrive
at 7:00 Friday morning. We have a 5 hour layover in Frankfort and then
take a 1 hour flight to Prague, Czech Republic. From there we take
about a 40 minute bus ride to Nymburk where we will be staying. More
tomorrow…. |
